What I Watched
The Mandalorian (Season 3) – Disney+
The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. The travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.
So, last month I decided to review the third season of The Mandalorian early, and then the infamous cameo episode happened later that week… I’m not too fond of it when celebrities are featured in popular series. I feel like it lessens the show. I was happy with the season finale and can’t wait to see the baby yodz again.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Season 5) – Prime Video
After her husband leaves her, young mother of two Miriam “Midge” Maisel discovers that she has a talent for stand-up comedy. Could this be her calling?
Speaking of reviewing a series earlier. Normally Prime Video drops all the episodes of a series right away but for some reason, they decided to change the format with new episodes dropping every week. I do like this episode drop style but seeing as this is the last season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel I was ready to binge this series to the end but I’ll have to wait a few more weeks. From what I’ve watched so far I’m really enjoying this season! If you’re thirsty for some amazing fashion and style then look no further than The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Dr Dray – Youtube
April was another month where I didn’t watch too many films or series but I did watch a lot of videos from Dr Dray, a dermatologist and skincare enthusiast who posts daily videos (yup! She’s been posting a video every day for 6 years!) about skincare. Since discovering this Youtube channel I started out by watching some of her skincare videos on specific skin issues then binged the rest of her catalog of videos. I like that’s she honest about what skincare works and what is just marketed in fancy packaging to be sold to consumers. Check out her channel if you’re interested in skincare.

What I Read
My Thoughts Exactly by Lily Allen
So, this is me. Lily Allen. I am a mother, and I was a wife. I’m also a singer and a songwriter. I have loved and been let down. I’ve been stalked and assaulted. I am a success and a failure. I’ve been broken and full of hope. I am all these things and more. I’m telling my truth because when women share their stories, loudly and clearly and honestly, things begin to change – for the better. So, this is my story. These are my thoughts exactly.
Lily Allen was one of the first artists that I loved growing up. I loved her music (Alright, Still was my first non-kids album that I bought with my babysitting money!) and style. I even had my own dress, sneaker, door knocker earring era that we won’t speak of… I loved that she didn’t care what others thought of her and it was refreshing to see a singer at that time. When I saw she had written a memoir, I was instantly intrigued because I hadn’t heard much from Lily Allen in the past couple of years. At first, I did think she was too young to write her own memoir but after reading her book and everything that she’s gone through I feel like she could probably write multiple books based on her experiences. In My Thoughts Exactly, Lily tells her story from youth to fame to where she is at the moment. I appreciate how raw and real she was in this and isn’t afraid to talk about the times she screwed up and was at her lowest. I found out a lot about her that I didn’t know and Lily is very brave for putting this out there. I thought some of the stories were disorganized as I felt we would jump to one time period to another which was confusing but if you’re a fan of Lily Allen I think you’ll learn a lot about her from this book.
A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey
For Lila Reyes, a summer in England was never part of the plan. The plan was 1) take over her abuela’s role as head baker at their panadería, 2) move in with her best friend after graduation, and 3) live happily ever after with her boyfriend. But then the Trifecta happened, and everything—including Lila herself—fell apart.
A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow is about a Cuban-American teen baker from Miami, Florida who is forced by her family to go to England after she rebels. This was alright. It’s supposed to be a rom-com for teenagers type of book but I found it was light on the romance which I appreciated. The book is pretty predictable and I didn’t like the main character but I did enjoy the Latin American references, I knew of all the pastries that were mentioned and I was craving flan the entire time! However, I found the book to be difficult to read, I had to reread multiple lines and paragraphs multiple times because certain sentences didn’t make sense. I had to check book reviews to see if anybody else had these issues and I only found a few reviews that mentioned the writing style, but at least I wasn’t alone! haha
Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel
The magic of L.M. Montgomery’s treasured classic is reimagined in a whimsically-illustrated graphic novel adaptation perfect for newcomers and kindred spirits alike.
I tried watching Anne With An E on Netflix last year but couldn’t get through the first episode because I found Anne’s character quite annoying. However, I have always wanted to see what the big deal about this series was as many people who I follow via bookstagram genuinely love the Anne of Green Gables series. I saw that the graphic novel was available to read on Kindle so I jumped at the opportunity to read it. Again, I found Anne’s character annoying at first (sorry but I can’t stand talkative people) but the more I read this novel the more I learned to love her quirky yet charming personality. The graphic novel is stunning too! At the end of this quick read, I was hungry for more adventures about Anne I’m going to give the series another watch and maybe even the book series after that!
Things I Love
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Multi-Use Dark Circle Concealer – 110
Long ago, I tried using this concealer but I got a bad bottle and could never get the concealer to work properly so I threw it away, lol. I saw someone I follow on Youtube talking about this concealer again so I decided to give this another try. I don’t like the spongy applicator tip thing but the concealer itself is pretty good! The coverage is nice and holds up well throughout the day.
Scentsual Brilliant Blue Lavender Incense
I bought this incense last year at Disney World but haven’t used it as much because I wanted to savor the sticks for special moments like the most recent Solar Eclipse. The lavender scent is so soothing so I’ve been lighting it up since the Solar Eclipse and enjoying the calming scent.
Vaseline Cocoa Butter Healing Jelly
I’ve had this container of Vaseline stored in my unused drawer of beauty products. After watching multiple videos of Dr.Dray I’ve been going through this jar of petroleum jelly as I’ve been using it as a lip balm and to slug (I hate that term) my body to get softer skin. It works as my lips and body has been looking and feeling softer! I still hate the feeling of Vaseline but I’m willing to comply for softer skin! haha
