Last week, I was in Italy for a week and visited Rome and Venice. I’m currently working on a photo diary post about my visit but in the meantime, I thought I would share a haul of everything I picked up in Italy. Stay tuned for more posts about Italy coming soon!
My older sister spotted these small statues of some notable figures in a souvenir shop and the Venus/Aphrodite one immediately caught my attention. I forgot how much she was but it was nowhere as expensive as goddess statues in the US are (at least online). I’ve already made a beauty altar for her in front of where I do my skincare, makeup, and hair area so I’m hoping that by placing the Venus statue here she’ll help me enchance my beauty and creativity.
In Venice, they had a selection of all these different flavored salts in some of the marke stalls. I found a pink rose-flavored salt that I thought this could be a lovely offering to place on my beauty altar so I bought a packet, it smells so good! I’m not sure if i’ll actually use it to cook with but if anybody has ever used rose-flavored salt in a recipe let me know.
In one of the shops in Venice, I found plant-based Nutella! It tastes a lot like regular Nutella but less creamy probably becaue it doesn’t contain dairy. I can’t wait to make vegan Nutella stuffed muffins with this!
Because Venice is close to Murano (a island close to Venice known for their glasswork) there are a lot of glass-made souvenirs throughout Venice. My goal was to find a cow because if you’re new here, I’m kinda of obsessed with cows. There are so many glass souvenir shops with every type of animal but it was tricky to find a glass cow-shaped. In the end, I only found one shop that had a glass cows but I’m so happy with it! In the same store, I saw this periwinkle heart charm and just loved it so I ended up getting it too. I’m going to find a chain or cord so that I can turn it into a cute necklace.
In Rome, my mom was generous enough to gift me and my sisters a perfume from Zara. We each got to choose which perfume we wanted, I was torn between Zara Emotions Vetiver Pamplemousse (love the name!) and Ebony Wood but in the end, I went with Ebony Wood just smelled divine!
In Venice, I visited the popular bookstore, Libreria Acqua Alta. I bought a lot of postcards which you’ll see more of down below but I also picked up a cute pink notebook with golden-colored craft paper. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for so if you have any ideas let me know. I also saw this cute The Little Book of Makeup in Venice book and impulsively bought it. I wanted to buy an actual book and not just cheesy souvenirs but most of the books in Libreria Acqua Alta are in Italian so it was diffacult to find a book in English. Thankfully, they had an English translation of this book so I decided to buy it. It’s a cute little book (I haven’t read it yet) but looking back I would’ve bought something else or just not buy it.
I bought a lot of postcards and art prints in Italy. I like using these in my mood boards to symbolize travel but I also use them because of the cute illstartions. You can find these postcards in pretty much every souvenir shop in Rome. I loved the watercolored landmark prints! I also bought a Italian map postcard as I have one from when I visited Paris and now I want to collect a cute illstarted map print of every place I travel to.
The Libreria Acqua Alta had so many cute cat-related postcards, prints, and photos. I’m not a cat person but I can appreciate a cute critter! The cashier lady in the shop even gifted me two bookmarks, one for me and my sister who visited the bookstore. It was really sweet surprise!
Do you buy a lot of souvenirs when you travel?
