A few weekends ago, I took a weekend trip to Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is the oldest city and a well-known historic town in Georgia. I’ve always wanted to visit Georgia because of its beautiful architecture and scenery, and it’s known to be a very haunted place! We stayed from Saturday to Monday, only having one full day in the city. I didn’t take too many photos whilst on the trip because I thrive in the moment and often forget to take pictures, but I did manage to snap a few photos that I’ll be sharing with you all in this photo diary.

Day 1 ~ Saturday
On Saturday, we drove the 4-5 hour ride and arrived at 4 pm at our Airbnb. We stayed in the North Historic District, where a lot of restaurants and shops are located. We had lunch at a tiny pizzeria called Toasted Crust, which was next door to where we were staying. We ordered a whole margherita pizza was soooo delicious! On the last day, I went back to get a single slice, but it wasn’t as good as their whole pizza, so I recommend getting a full pie instead of an individual slice.
Afterward, we walked around the Downtown Historic District and looked for Leopold’s Ice Cream, which is a popular ice creamery. The wait was out the door! I selected their seasonal birthday cake flavor, you know, with my birthday being in July and all! I loved it! It was probably the best birthday cake flavor ice cream I’ve ever tasted! Next door to Leopold’s was a new age spiritual shop with lots of crystals. I didn’t end up getting anything as nothing spoke to me.
Afterward, we went to River Street to get a view of the Savannah River as the sun was setting. It was busy, seeing as it was the July 4th weekend, but we left early as it began to rain and ended up getting caught in the rain so we went back to our Airbnb and called it an early night.

The Book Lady Bookstore (6 E Liberty St. Savannah, GA 31401)
On our second day (more on this below), we went to see Forsyth Park, along the way, I stopped at a few bookshops because they were along the way. The Book Lady Bookstore carries new and used books. The layout of the store was small, and there were a lot of nooks and corners with plenty of books. When I arrived, there was no one in the store besides the staff, which I thought was a nice time to browse the bookshelves.
To commemorate my Savannah trip, I wanted a book written by a Savannah author. Thankfully, they had a section for Savannah authors! I ended up getting Wild Spectacle by Janisse Ray, mainly because the cover was pretty. I also bought a copy of I’ll Sell You A Dog by Juan Pablo Villalobos because I want to read more books by Latin and Hispanic authors, plus the bright blue papel picado cover caught my attention! The staff were nice and gifted me a Book Lady Bookstore bookmark for each one of my books!

E.Shaver Booksellers (326 Bull St. Savannah, GA 31401)
I came across the E. Shaver Booksellers book shop pretty randomly. It’s only two blocks from the Book Lady Bookstore, but I wasn’t planning on visiting the E. Shaver Booksellers, so it felt pretty kismet when I saw it from across the street!
E. Shaver Booksellers was pretty crowded, but they had cats! I think cats are their thing as they had a special section of cat books, and even the free bookmark they gave me had cats on it. I managed to see two of their cats, one of them was moodiky sleeping by the window (seen above). This bookshop was much more organized and had much more of a selection than the previous bookshop. They even had a whole shelf dedicated to tarot and oracle decks! They also had a section with stationery where I picked up a few souvenirs.
From E. Shaver Booksellers, I picked up Mermaid, Sirens, and Selkies: Myths and Legends by Jean Menzies. I was lowkey searching for a mermaid or island book to read for the mermaid readathon, so when I found this tiny book, I had to buy it! I also found a copy of The Penguin Book of Korean Short Stories, which I was so excited to see! There are a lot of stories inside that I can’t wait to get lost in! I also bought some postcards and stickers as souvenirs. I got myself a coffee tarot sticker and a postcard of the Juliette Garden Low childhood house, aka the founder of the Girl Scouts. We didn’t have time to see her house, so I thought I would get a postcard of it instead.

Day 2 ~ Sunday
On our second day, our only full day in Savannah. We walked to Forsyth Park to see the beautiful park known for its gorgeous greenery. Unfortunately, the popular Forsyth fountain, known in Forsyth Park, was under renovation, so we weren’t able to see it in its pure glory. The rest of the day, we walked around, went back to River Street, and got my nephew an ice cream from a place he wanted the previous day. I also picked up some scones from The Little Crown by Pie Society.
Overall, it was a fun but short trip. I didn’t experience anything spooky (check out this post to see what creepy thing happened to me when I got back from Savannah). Because we arrived the day after July 4th, it was pretty crowded. The streets were also very noisy at night, and I heard loud cars racing down the street every night. I would love to visit Savannah again, but during a different season when it’s not as hot or crowded, and have more of a game plan of things I want to do. This was a last-minute trip, and the only things I wanted to do were visit bookshops and a yarn store, which was sadly closed the days we were there. Next time, I would like to look at more of the beautiful homes and attend a haunted tour!
