If you’ve been following my natural hair journey then you will know that I’ve been trying to grow my hair for a couple of years. I’ve tried mainly drugstore products which have been working fine for me but when Vegamour reached out to me to ask if I wanted to test out their GRO collection I was quick to respond with a YES! I wanted to know whether there is a big difference between drugstore and higher-end hair products. I’ve actually heard of Vegamour before in podcast advertisements and was intrigued by hearing some of my favorite podcasters talking about their positive experience using Vegamour so I was very excited to try out Vegamour hair products.
I was given 5-6 weeks to test out each of the products that were sent to me. I was gifted many of the GRO products to help with my hair growth but they also kindly sent me one of their products from their HYDR-8 collection when I mentioned that I have curly hair. I used the Vegamour hair products religiously for the past month so I’ve had enough time to familiarize myself with the Vegamour hair products, down below I share my honest feedback on each of the items.
“Vegamour is a holistic approach to hair wellness that incorporates clinically tested plant-based ingredients that work in tandem to promote healthy, beautiful hair naturally, without the use of harmful chemicals or short-term ‘fixes’ that can lead to long-term problems. We study the power of nature through the lens of science to bring you the ultimate in total hair wellness & beauty for a lifetime of happiness.”

GRO Revitalizing Shampoo | 8 fl. oz. $48
Formulated for those with thinning hair, this shampoo features powerful phytoactives and Karmatin™, a vegan keratin alternative, that strengthen strands. Biomimetic peptides and caffeine stimulate and nourish the scalp for a root-to-tip cleansing experience.
My Experience
If you read my previous curly hair check-in you know that I’ve been using a hair growth shampoo and conditioner every other wash day to help stimulate hair growth. I replaced that shampoo and conditioner with the Vegamour GRO shampoo and conditioner since I received these products so I could get the full experience. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week but I did clarify my hair once (with a non-Vegamour product) during the month I was using these products.
The Vegamour GRO revitalizing shampoo has a lovely natural citrusy scent that lingered after I got out of the shower and completed my hairstyling routine. The shampoo is runny and lathered up nicely. The instructions said to leave it on for 1 minute and then rinse off and follow up with the conditioner. I only used this shampoo once, I normally double cleanse but my scalp felt nicely clean after only using this shampoo once.
After using this shampoo my hair feels really healthy like it properly removed any and all product buildup. I used to shed a lot of hair in the shower but my hair hasn’t been shedding as much since switching to this shampoo. Not only that but my hair feels stronger and my hair strands also look thicker!
The only flaw I had with this product was the packaging. I may have received a defective shampoo bottle or something because the day I opened and used this shampoo and left it in my shower a lot of the product was seeping out of the sides. I stored it upside down for the next few wash days to prevent this situation. I’m not sure if the bottle I got may have been overfilled with shampoo or maybe something triggered the bottle to malfunction during the shipping process but I didn’t want to note this.

GRO Revitalizing Conditioner | 8 fl. oz. $48
Formulated for those with thinning hair, this nourishing conditioner features powerful phytoactives and Karmatin™, a vegan keratin alternative, that strengthen strands. A blend of antioxidant-rich natural oils hydrate, strengthen and protect from scalp to strand.
My Experience
The Vegamour GRO revitalizing conditioner didn’t smell like its shampoo sibling, in fact, it smelled more artificial. I’m not sure if it’s the natural scent of the mixture of the marula oil, baobab oil and murumuru butter, and red clover and mung bean blend that are featured in this conditioner or what. The smell in this conditioner wasn’t as pleasant as the shampoo was but it also didn’t linger like the shampoo scent did, the shampoo’s scent overpowered the conditioner. The consistency of this cream is pretty standard. The instructions said to leave it on for 2 minutes before washing it off.
As a curly girl, a moisturizing conditioner is super important in our hair routine so I’m a bit picky with hair conditioners. Unfortunately, this conditioner wasn’t moisturizing enough for me. I found myself using double the amount of this product in search of more hydration. On some wash days, I even followed up with a hair mask when I felt like my hair wasn’t moisturized enough.
With that said, using both the Vegamour GRO revitalizing shampoo and conditioner has improved my hair’s density and I noticed my hair looks cleaner for a longer without stripping the natural oils in my hair or making my hair look or feel dry. I usually go 3 days before my hair starts to appear greasy and needs to be washed. However, since switching to this washing routine I haven’t had to wash my hair as much as I normally do. I can go up to 4-5 days before my hair starts to feel dirty which I love because washing my hair is a process! haha

GRO Hair Serum | $64
This best-selling hair serum, powered by plant-based actives, reduces signs of shedding and fallout. Apply the fast-absorbing, non-greasy formula to the scalp daily to support an optimal scalp environment for stronger and more resilient strands. Formulated with termeric, caffeine, mung bean and read clover blend, and biotin.
My Experience
The serum is very interesting because it feels and looks like water and it doesn’t have a scent so I was very confused by this product at first and wasn’t expecting much. You just apply this serum to your hair and let it soak into your scalp which was interesting, this is my first time using a hair growth product that you don’t wash off.
It has a light scent but nothing too noticeable and is much more of a liquid than a serum. I applied this serum on my dry hair that was parted in the middle. I massaged the product into my scalp for a few minutes. I did this after styling my curls so that the styling products I used didn’t interfere with this serum.
I was shocked by this product! I’ve only been using this for a month and have already noticed new hair growth forming around the mid-scalp region where some of my scalp normally shows, which is incredible! Don’t underestimate this serum as it may not look like much at first but the aftermath is worth it!
You’re supposed to apply this serum daily for 30 days, one bottle is supplied enough for 30 days. I was sent a 90-day supply of the Vegamour GRO hair serum and as of posting this review I’m still on my first bottle but I’m very close to finishing it. So, I’ll either update this post once I’ve used all of my 90-day supply or I’ll write up a new review post about this product in more detail. I’m very curious to see the difference my hair will grow after I use up the other two bottles!

GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum | $42
Remove impurities for a healthier looking scalp with GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum. Formulated as a weekly treatment, this scalp serum works to sweep away buildup, helping to absorb excess oils, and leaving your scalp feeling soothed and refreshed. Best used before washing with GRO Revitalizing Shampoo to clear the way for powerful phytoactives that work to revitalize roots for thicker, fuller looking locks. Made with clean, vegan ingredients, and ideal to use a weekly hair wellness ritual.
My Experience
I used the Vegamour GRO scalp detoxifying serum once a week as a weekly scalp treatment. I was also very confused with this product as I was expecting a more textured product, not necessarily a scrub but something thicker, however, this serum has a very liquid consistency and a light unnoticeable scent.
This product features a nozzle tip application that makes applying this product easy and clean. You massage in the product (I used a scalp massager to avoid getting my hands dirty) for 1-2 minutes and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before following up with a shampoo and condtioner.
A healthy scalp helps improve healthy hair growth so I understand the importance of a product like this if hair growth is part of your hair routine. With that said, I’m not sure how effective it actually is. I would say I have a pretty healthy scalp as I don’t experience any dryness, itchiness, or issues with dandruff but I like to think that this product is helping with the hair growth process in some way. haha

HYDR-8 Weightless Repair Hair Oil | 1.7 fl. oz. $48
A hair repair oil that strengthens, smooths and adds natural shine. Ideal for fine or thin hair, it’s formulated without silicones for a weightless finish. Adds natural, glossy shine Fights frizz and flyaways Strengthens hair and seals split ends. formulated with marula oil, vitamin c oil, sacha inchi and chia seed oil blend.
My Experience
This is the only product that Vegamour sent me that isn’t part of their GRO collection. Their HYDR-8 collection is meant to help hydrate, strengthen, and revive dry damaged hair while promoting softness and shiny healthy-looking hair.
Hair oils are probably one of my favorite hair-styling products as they act as a perfect seal to help maintain your hair (and curls) for the following days. The Vegamour HYDR-8 weightless repair oil is a light fast-absorbing oil that’s perfect for those with fine or thin hair types like me. The oil is similar to that of a spray oil. The bottle this product came in looks so luxurious and feels like a quality high-end hair product! As someone who mainly uses drugstore hair products, I was very impressed with the fancy packaging of this product! haha
The Vegamour HYDR-8 weightless repair hair oil made my hair look shiny but in a healthy way not in a greasy way. However, it wasn’t long-lasting and the shine naturally faded. This didn’t bother me though as I could just apply a bit more oil when I wanted my curls to appear shiny. It also does a fantastic job at breaking a gel cast for when I need to fluff up my curls after styling.
In terms of frizz prevention, I didn’t really see that with this product. My curls are very prone to frizz to begin with and this oil didn’t do anything to reduce the amount of frizz I get. With that said, one thing I loved about this oil was the scent! The blend of spicy warm cardamom and herbaceous clary sage infused with notes of sweet vanilla and cedarwood is very fragrant and smells absolutely divine! Using this oil to seal up my curls was the perfect way to end my hair routine!

Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m very happy with the Vegamour GRO collection. Even though I had some minor issues with some of the products I felt like using them all together has helped regulate healthy hair growth in a relatively short time. If I had to choose a favorite product from all of these I would say either the GRO Revitalizing Shampoo or the GRO Hair Serum as I feel like those two products really improved the appearance of my hair’s density the most.
The Vegamour HYDR-8 weightless repair hair oil is also another favorite that I’ve been using almost daily. It’s not the best hair oil I’ve used but the smell and how lightweight it feels makes my hair styling routine much more enjoyable.
The products are expensive compared to the drugstore prices I’m used to but Vegamour does offer a subscribe & save option where you can save some money and get free shipping! They also offer travel-size options on most of their products so if you would like to try out a product and are not sure if the product is right for you I would suggest trying out the travel-size first before committing to the full-size.
I want to thank Vegamour for kindly sending me these products in exchange and entrusting me with reviewing their products.
