What I Watched
Don’t Worry Darling – Netflix
While her husband leaves home everyday to work in a top secret facility, a young 1950s housewife begins to question her life when she notices strange behavior from the other wives in the neighborhood.
Don’t Worry Darling has been on my list of films that I’ve been meaning to watch for a while. I saw that it was on Netflix so I gave it a go. This was a strange physiological film about a housewife who starts to suspect something is off in the small town where she lives with her husband, think Barbie meets The Stepford Wives. I think Florence Pugh did an outstanding job with her role and carried the film. The whole film was very artsy and the ending felt rushed and left me with more questions than answers.
Dune – Netflix
A noble family becomes embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy’s most valuable asset while its heir becomes troubled by visions of a dark future.
I thought I would give Dune a try seeing as the second one is coming out soon and I’ve always been curious about what this film is all about. Dune is based on a popular science fiction novel of the same name which I’ve never read. There are a lot of sci-fi elements and world-building that I didn’t care for. It was too long and I may have dozed off at parts. I was also shocked that Zendaya wasn’t in most of the film. haha
Avatar The Last Airbender – Netflix
A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save the world, and fight against an enemy bent on stopping him
Like many, Avatar the Last Airbender fans I was skeptical about watching the live-action series after the original creators of the animated series walked off this project. But when I saw the trailers I was impressed. Most of the show looked great! I like the progression of the series, they included multiple key points and charaters from Book 1. I think the actors who played Avatar Aang, Prince Zoku, and Commander Zhao did an amazing job with their roles. Most of the bending looked great, I thought the rock bending looked kind of wonky but the rest of the bending looked believable.
Now for what I didn’t enjoy, the kid actors. I wish they would’ve just aged the main charaters up and made them teens rather than kids/preteens I think it hurts this series from growing a larger audience especially if this is your first time hearing about the Avatar series. I especially wish they would’ve aged Azula and her gang because I couldn’t take them seriously at all, they looked like they were young girls playing cosplay. The actors who played Katara and Sokka eventually grew on me but their acting isn’t to the level that I wish it was. Some of the costumes and sets looked very cartoony which I get as this is based on an animated series but I wished they would’ve gone with a more realistic appearance on some of the sets and clothing. I do hope they make more seasons because I would love to see the rest of the books played out. If you watched Avatar the Last Airbender let me know on your thoughts.

Things I Did
Started a Substack Newsletter
After many back-and-forth discussions with myself, I finally caved in and started a Substack! The posts on Mooey’s Cozy Corner are going to be more chill than the posts I publish here on Mooeyandfriends. Think of it as a secret blog with extra posts throughout the month. There are three posts available on Mooey’s Cozy Corner right now. so go and check them out if you haven’t already!
Gave my piano bench a makeover
I feel like I talked about giving my piano/keyboard bench a makeover so much this month. Go give the video I made via TikTok (or Instagram) a watch if you haven’t already. I LOVE the result!
Upgraded to a new iPhone
There isn’t much of a difference between my old iPhone 11 and my new iPhone 15 Plus. The size difference is very minor and there are a few new apps like the journal app! However, the storage is the main reason for the upgrade. Having more space on my phone is beneficial for recording videos which I’ve been doing more of lately.
Lucy turned 10 Years Old
I wrote a whole post about Lucy earlier this month and then I talked more in-depth in this post. Lucy is my partner in crime, my ride-or-die, and I’m so grateful to have this little pup in my life!
What I Read
Follow me on Goodreads to be updated on what I’m reading and on StoryGraph if you’re curious about my book statistics. I’ll publish a post on my monthly reads in a few days but you can read my previous monthly reads here in the meantime.

Things I Love
My new desk & desk chair
At the end of the previous month, my new desk and desk chair arrived and I immediately put them together to create my new desk area. It’s now been a month since I built my new desk area and I’m just so grateful! I love all the space, the storage, and that it’s easy to clean. The chair is so comfortable, it’s a beautiful shade of blue/green and even has wheels so I can easier roll about in my room if I have to. My new desk area is such an upgrade from my previous desk area and brings me so much happiness. I still want to decorate it a bit more before I share pictures of it with you all but when it’s ready I’ll make a post about my desk area.
TRESemme Flawless Curls Hydrating Oil
If you’ve been following along on my curly hair journey, then you know that I’ve been looking for the perfect hair oil to scrunch out the crunch, a popular saying in the curly hair community used to describe that crunchy feeling from a gel cast. I’ve tried multiple oils, some too thick and some too heavy but the flawless curls hydrating oil is my new favorite! It’s light and doesn’t leave an oily or sticking feeling on my fingers afterward.
Pink Heart Laptop Desk Monitor Stand
I wanted a monitor stand to elevate a desk organizer that I have on my desk. I found this cute pink heart monitor stand and knew it was perfect! It comes with 3 small drawers which just adds some extra storage which I can always use! It even has these two elephant standees that you can use to display a phone or glasses but I’ve been using it to display my daily tarot card.

I watched Don’t Worry Darling on your recommendation and it was the right amount of weird for me but I agree the ending left a lot of questions. Loved the 50s vibe and the clothes/decor. I looked up the film poster after watching and that’s pretty cool too.
