Welcome back to another deck review. In the post, I’ll be reviewing the Seasons of the Witch: Mabon. Check out my last deck review here. Continue reading to find out my thoughts and opinions on this oracle deck.
The Seasons of the Witch: Mabon oracle deck was written by Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz and illustrated by Tijana Lukovic. Lorriane Anderson is a spiritual teacher, writer, and soul-based entrepreneur who focuses heavily on intentional and energetic living as well as using spiritual practices as a pathway to profound healing, growth, and transformation. Juliet Diaz is an Indigenous Taino Cubana from a long line of curanderos and brujas who is a multiple bestselling author and the founder of Spirit Bound Press. Tijana Lukovic is an illustrator based in Gent, Belgium. Her paintings and illustrations are inspired by the magickal and metaphysical realms, containing traces of folklore, fairy tales, mythology, and love of nature. Tijana Lukovic has also illustrated the Seasons of the Witch Imbolc, Litha, and Lammas oracle decks.
The Seasons of the Witch: Mabon oracle deck is the fourth installment in the SOTW oracle deck series. It contains 44 cards and an illustrated guidebook. This oracle deck is part of the Seasons of the Witch oracle deck collection which is based around the Wheel of the Year and the eight Wiccan Sabbats that include Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnasadh/Lammas, Mabon, and Samhain. Mabon is a Pagan holiday that celebrates the Autumn Equinox on September 23.

PROS
– Stunning illustrations
– Cozy imagery
– Vivid autumnal colors
– Easy to shuffle
– Metallic edging
– Seasonal cards
– Insightful message
– Informative guidebook
– Colored guidebook
– Bonus material
The Seasons of the Witch: Mabon oracle cards are printed on glossy rounded printed cards. The edges are colored in a beautiful metallic orange color. These cards shuffle easily because of the slip from the glossy finish.
Mabon is a Pagan holiday that is associated with the Autumn Equinox and harvest season so as a result all the cards in this deck are themed around autumn and fall harvest with some spooky witchy imagery that are perfect for the early autumn season. This is the perfect deck to use in the fall season. There is a Samhain oracle deck that you can use around late autumn.
What drew me to this oracle deck was the dreamy illustrations by Tijana. The colors, shading, textures, brushstrokes, and all those details in these cards are breathtaking! If you’re a visual person then you’ll have a joyful time observing all the whimsical subtle details in the backgrounds. Even the outfits and styling of the characters in this deck are amazing! The Cranberries (10) is one of my favorite cards because I think it looks a lot like me! haha
The messages on the cards are very insightful, comforting, and encouraging. The cards seem to provide the perfect message for you whenever you need some wisdom.
The guidebooks in the SOTW series are one of the highlights of these decks. The guidebook contains a lot of informative knowledge on magickal studies and witchcraft. There are card spread ideas, spells, affirmations, meditations, magickal practices, recipes, ritual ideas, and so much more! The cards in the card description are colored in the guidebook which is a nice feature. Each SOTW deck comes with extra content that can be accessed through a QR code that comes inside the deck which is a cool feature.
CONS
– Glossy finish
This is just my preference, but I’m not a fan of a glossy finish in these card decks. Yeah, they’re easy to shuffle and work with but I don’t like how reflective the cards are. I would’ve preferred a satin finish but again this is just my preference. However, this won’t stop me from collecting the rest of the SOTW decks.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This is my first Seasons of the Witch oracle deck and it won’t be the last! I’m looking forward to collecting the rest of the seasonal decks in the Seasons of the Witch series and one day using them all together in a yearly card reading.
If you’re someone who enjoys the season of autumn, loves spooky witchy imagery, and wants a creative deck to use in the fall season this is a must to add to your card deck collection!
