My wish is that you begin to see how much beauty and magic resides in the darker hours. Quiet your mind and dim the switch to truly see, hear, and feel what the night has to offer.
The How to be a Moonflower Deck: 78 Ways to Let the Night Inspire You was created by Katie Daisy. A certified moon lover, Katie Daisy is an artist whose paintings capture the essence of living in harmony with nature. She is the author of the New York Times-bestselling book How to Be a Wildflower and How to Be a Moonflower.
Katie Daisy created and illustrated this deck as a way to connect to the hours between dusk and dawn. Use this deck to explore all the mysteries of the night and embrace the magic of the unknown.

THINGS TO NOTE
– Easy-to-open box
– Beautifully illustrated
– Very whimsical
– The perfect summer deck!
– Dreamy prompts
– Great way to connect to nature, nighttime, and/or your inner child
– Ideal for water signs
The cards from the How to be a Moonflower Deck are printed on a matte cardstock and measure 3 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches long. The box slides open and closed like a drawer without a struggle. The lovely lavender color on the box is a nice touch. It also comes with an introduction and “how to use this deck” card instead of a guidebook.
This is such a dreamy and whimsical deck! The imagery of the cards is so gorgeous, I can’t tell which side of the cards I prefer to use! The playful energy that this deck gives off is perfect for the summer season, especially late summer evenings.
The prompts in this card deck are perfect for a self-care practice. Whether you want to connect to your inner child, nighttime, nature, or water sign energy. There is also something very romantic and cozy about the messages on these cards, which I love.
This deck reminds me of the astrological water signs, Cancer, Pisces, and Scorpio. This could be a wonderful deck to use if you’re a water sign or want to connect to water energy. It has the childlike wander of a Cancer, the dreaminess of a Pisces, and the mystique of a Scorpio. If you’re a fellow water sign, I think you’ll love this deck!
Katie Daisy also mentioned that you can use this deck to help overcome your fear of the night or dark places. So, if you’re scared of the dark, consider using this deck.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
– Long cards that are difficult to shuffle
– Cards stick together easily
– Extra card
– No guidebook
– Not practical
Because of the size of these cards, they’re difficult to shuffle. As you can see in the short video that I posted, I have to shuffle them horizontally rather than vertically because this is the most comfortable way to shuffle this deck, plus it’s a thick deck with 78 cards! If you have longer hands or fingers, you may not find this challenging, though. Because the cards are of a matte finish, you will also find that the cards tend to stick together but this is an issue that I’ve found with all matte decks. Once you’ve broken in this deck and used it more, this won’t be a problem.
It’s not the most practical deck. If you’re not a dreamy romantic person who tries to find the whimsy of the everyday, then you may want to skip this deck as I think you will struggle to resonate with the messages on these cards.
I agree, some prompts are a bit more practical than others like watch the sunset, breathe in night air, read potery, be brave, savor a sunrise, and then there’s have a nighttime picnic or practice night gardening. If you draw a card that doesn’t speak to you, shuffle and pick a new one. It’s all for fun!

FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, I adore this deck! It’s stunning images and the whimsical childlike energy from this deck make me want to embrace the summer season, even though I always dread this season. Reading the simple yet dreamy prompts made me realize that there is hidden beauty in this season that I didn’t recognize before.
There is also a book version of How to be a Moonflower, as well as a How to be a Wildflower book and a How to Be a Wildflower card deck. You can also view all of Katie Daisy’s products in her Etsy shop.
