I was browsing through Twitter when I noticed a K-pop thread by @YEOSAMGS was going around. I read some of the questions and thought it would make the perfect K-pop TAG. To make this post shorter I decided to select a few questions and add a few of my own. Thank you @YEOSAMGS for starting this thread and providing these questions because of you I got inspiration for this blog post.
1. How did you get into K-pop?
Bubzbeauty did a hair tutorial of one of the Girls’ Generation look and linked the music video. That day I went down a Girls’ Generation rabbit hole.
2. What was your first K-pop song?
Girls’ Generations Oh! or Gee, I don’t remember which one I listened to first.
3. When did you discover K-pop?
2010-2011
4. Top 5 favorite male groups?
At the moment, Red Velvet, MAMAMOO, DREAMCATCHER, LOONA, and (G)I-DLE
6. Favorite solo artists?
IU, SUNMI, Roy Kim, Chung Ha, and BoA
7. Favorite rappers?
Epik High, ZICO, Zion T, Crush, Junoflo, and Dean
8. How has K-pop affected your life?
In so many ways! It makes me incredibly happy! I don’t think a day goes on by where I’m not listening K-pop, watching variety shows, and/or Kdramas. Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if I never discovered it.
9. Favorite solo debut from a group?
Taemin (SHINee) and HYUNA (4Minute)
10. Favorite subunits?
Orange Caramel (After School), BASTARZ (Block B), SISTAR19 (SISTAR), JJ Project (GOT7), and JUS2 (GOT7)
11. Favorite rookie groups?
Stray Kidz, LOONA, and (G)I-DLE
12. Favorite debut songs?
Warrior (B.A.P), Face (NU’EST), Like OOH-AHH (TWICE), and Congratulations (DAY6)
13. Favorite album(s)?
At the moment it’s Sleepless in ______ (Epik High) and We Are Here (MONSTA X)
Mr. Taxi (Girls’ Generation). Before they made the Korean version I would listen to this song all the time! However, I do prefer Korean versions better.
15. Favorite Japanese single released?
Stop the Rain and If (DAY6)
The Boys (Girls’ Generations). I’m not a fan of English versions of songs.
Eh, I can’t think of one. I watch a lot of dramas because of idols that I recognize but I don’t think idols are that great at acting, at least I never watched one with an outstanding performance.
I always loved how funny and natural BTS and GOT7 were on variety shows. I’ve watched a couple of other groups on variety shows and you can definitely tell when group members are close or not.

20. First K-drama you watched?
Boys Over Flowers
The King and Alive (VIXX) from ‘Moorim School’ OST. The drama was horrible but the songs Vixx recorded for the drama were amazing! Also, the ‘To the Beautiful You’ OST is one of my absolute favorites.
I Wish (WJSN) The aesthetics in this music video is astounding!
23. What is your favorite choreography?
At the moment, I really love MONSTA X’s Alligator choreography.
24. Favorite and least favorite concepts?
Least favorite: Any flower boy or innocent girl concepts. So cringy!
Favorite: Anything bold and powerful!
25. Favorite song at the moment?
Epik High – Lovedrunk (feat. Crush)
26. Who are some of your current bias?
Taemin (SHINee), Bang Yongguk (B.A.P), SUGA and V (BTS), Mark (GOT7), Wonho and IM (MONSTA X), and Taeyong (NCT).
27. Have you ever been to a concert?
No. It’s my goal to go to my first K-pop concert this year.
28. Are you a part of any official fan clubs? Have you been to a fan meet?
Nope
29. Do you buy albums and merch?
I tried collecting albums when I first started listening but there were too many that I wanted so I just buy the songs online and look at the pictures online. I wish I could afford to buy tons of albums and official merch like hardcore fans but I would rather save my money to go to their concerts. If I ever go to a concert I will definitely buy any merch though!
30. Are you soft stan or a hard stan?
A very soft stan. I will listen to any group and give them a chance but it’s very rare that I will stan a group so I choose wisely who I choose to stan. I like to think of myself as a fan of the genre K-pop rather than groups. There are a few groups that I follow but only when they’re promoting.
