Popplio Crochet Plush ♥ Crochet Pattern

Pokemon Sun and Moon were recently released so I decided to make a project based on the game. For day 4 of 12 Day of DIYs, I will be sharing my crochet pattern on how to make my favorite starter from Pokemon Sun and Moon, Popplio! Popplio is water (possibly fairy?) Pokemon who instantly won my heart when I first laid my eye’s on him! I wanted a Popplio of my own so bad that I decided to make my own! This is one of my favorite crochet projects that I’ve made (so far). It actually came out way better then I thought it would. I hope you enjoy the pattern and intend to make him!

– Pink worsted yarn

– White worsted yarn

– Light blue worsted yarn

– Blue yarn (I recommend Red Heart’s Super Saver yarn in Delft Blue because it matches Popplio perfectly!)

– H/5.00 mm crochet hook

– G/4.25 mm crochet hook

– Yarn needle

– Scissors

– Polyfill stuffing

– Black felt

– White felt

– Sewing pins

– No-sew glue

Sc – single crochet

– Ch 6, slst to form circle. Total = 6 sts

– 2 sc in each st (x6). Total = 12 sts

– Sc 12 sts. Total = 12 sts

– 2 sc in each st (x12). Total = 24 sts

– Sc 24 sts. Total = 24 sts

– 2 sc in next st, sc 2 sts (x3). Total = 32 sts

– Sc 32 sts (x5). Total = 32 sts

*start stuffing*

– Dec 1, sc 1 st (x10), dec 1. Total = 21 sts

– Dec 1, sc 2 sts (x5), sc 1. Total = 16 sts

Cut off, leave a long tail for sewing

– Ch 6, slst to form circle. Total = 6 sts

Cut off, leave a long tail for sewing

– Ch 30 sts, slst to 1st st to form a circle. Total = 30 sts

-Sc 30 sts. Total = 30 sts

– Sc 4, ch 1, turn, dec 2, cut off (repeat all the way through, you should get 7 scallops. One of the scallops will have 5 sts instead of 4 sts in that case [sc 5, ch 1, turn, dec 1, sc 1 st, dec 1, cut off].)

Sew the nose to the snout area. Add Popplio’s whiskers and smile with black thread or yarn. Next attach the snout and ears onto the head. Use sewing pins to keep the pieces in the correct areas. Cut the eyes out of black and white felt, use glue to adhere the eyes over each other and then glue or sew the eyes onto Popplio’s face.

With white yarn add Popplio’s front details to the flippers. Make sure that only the bottom part of the flippers are stuffed (this makes Popplio stand up by itself) you don’t have to stuff the top part. Next, attach the flippers to the body. Use pins to help you place them in the appropriate area.

For the tail, sew the top parts of the tail together and then attached it to the bottom back of the body.

Sew the two light blue ruffs on top of each other. Then sew Popplio’s head onto the ruff, make sure you leave the bottom of the head open! Pin the head onto the body (it should be where the shoulders would be) and sew together, use the leftover tail of yarn from the head, not the ruff. Then finally you are done!
