Last week, I attended my first cupholder birthday event for the leader of DAY6, Sungjin. If you don’t already know of DAY6, I highly recommend them if you’re into soft rock/alternative music. They’re so talented! If you never heard of them do yourself a favor today and check out their music.
Huge shoutout to my friend Cate for letting me know about this event! The cafe wasn’t too far from where I live and it ran from (1/16-1/19) so I made plans to go visit as soon as I had some free time. I actually thought I had missed out on the event because I thought it ended on the 18th but I doubled checked and found out it actually ended on the 19th so I made it my goal to visit on Sunday.
The Sungjin birthday cupholder event was held at a 꽃뜨루/Kkottru cafe. The cafe already had the cutest floral/cozy aesthetic decor but with all the pictures of Bob everywhere, it just made the area 10x cuter!
I went to the cafe with a friend on the last day of the event (1/19). We were some of the last people to attend the cafe and were the last ones to leave, minus the fan club that hosted the event. The fan club didn’t say anything to us (probably because we’re foreigners) they could’ve at least said thank you for supporting the event. They even took down the decorations as soon as my friend got up to take pictures of the decor which I thought was rude. Hopefully, next time we’ll run into nicer My Day.
A look at the window display from the inside. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the outside before they took the decorations down. ㅠㅡㅠ
This was my favorite display in the Cafe. I love all the DAY6 Denimalz characters! Would you like to see some Denimalz crochet patterns?
The cafe still had Christmas decorations up! haha
I love the turquoise blue color in the cafe, it’s perfect for the DAY6!
Some of the cute baked goods from the cafe. They also had a bunch of macarons in various flavors. South Korea loves macarons!
They had was this section with pen and paper where you could write a message to Bob Sungjin. Not sure how they planned on sending the messages to him but if these events are hosted by fan clubs they must know where to send them right?
Anyways, I didn’t write a message because I didn’t know what to write but thinking about it now I probably could’ve just drawn something or just write something in my basic Korea. Oh well! haha
When you purchase a drink, they gave you a Sungjin cupholder and a set of photo cards. On the back of the photocards are calendars! I think you get more photo cards/calendars at the Wonpil birthday event (his birthday is in May) and you continue until you get a complete DAY6 calendar. and stickers, my favorite is the one with the Pikachu! I also decided to get the bear macaron because of the #aesthetic.
I ordered an iced caramel coffee. It tasted alight, just your standard caramel coffee. The macaron’s filling was a dark chocolate chip which I didn’t like (hate dark chocolate). However, the shell of the macaron was super sweet to the point where I couldn’t even taste the filling so I finished it! haha
Here is a closer look at the photos. The photos on the left (the ones with the bears) are actually stickers! I can’t wait to make a spread with them in my journal! haha
Have you been to a K-pop birthday event before?

The photos on the trees are so cute, everything is so cute!! Too bad the fanclub was a bit rude, I definitely need to do something for my boy Wonpil's birthday, which also happens to be the same day as my Mama's birthday, so I'll have to celebrate for the both of them haha! xoxo

I wish we (malaysian) have more Day6 cup sleeve event because I don't think I ever see any. Just to more famous groups.
I've never been because Idk why I did not enjoy it even though my friends organised a few BTS, Ateez, Stray Kidz, NCT & EXO's cup sleeve event. I didn't even bother to go to NCT's cup sleeve event. Not sure why, maybe because I hate seeing my mutuals (on IG and Twitter) in the flesh or something or maybe because I'm a cheapskate that rather spend all that money on something else hahaha
Wow, that was rude. I ran into a twice's member's cup sleeve event at COEX Starfield mall. It was over but the organiser left the decoration for the last few fans that came to the cafe. They'd probably took down all the deco the next morning or something. I must say, my friend who is studying in Korea and huge cup sleeve goer, she told me that the korean fansite that organised this kind of event, will never thank you for coming or anything like that. They even gave you the side eye look because we're foreigners. I don't see why they need to act like that. They need to know that without our support (and the rest of the fans local or foreign), your hardship means NOTHING. Be humble and meet everyone, thank them for coming and support.
Yay, I hate dark chocolate too!
Btw, I love reading your post like this. You take beautiful photos and I enjoy looking at them.
And yes, Korean loves macarons and they also loveeeee Madeleine and Canele. All the cafes that I went to, will have Madeleine and Caneles in the menu.

That's so cute! I really want to attend more of these events while I'm in Korea. They're so cute!
They could've at least smiled at us or nodded at us or something. We should group together as fans to celebrate the members we love instead of being rude and taking down the decorations. I really don't like to think people are discriminating against me just because I'm a foreigner but a lot of the friends I've made here have told me that happens. Maybe I'm just naive and think that stuff doesn't happen because I would never do that to people.
Your comment made me smile so much! Thank you! I'm glad you love this post! ♥
