Books I Want to Read During Virgo Season โฅ Virgo TBR

Welcome back to another Zodiac sign TBR! If you missed the last post in this series, go check it out. In this series, I’ll be recommending books that I think give off the feeling of a certain zodiac sign. I judge books based on the cover and/or synopsis to determine which zodiac sign vibes with said book, and recommend a few books that I haven’t read before. This is a TBR, so I hope to read one (if not all) of these books within the length of a certain astrological season.
When it comes to the sign of Virgo, I always think of self-help. They are the signs that really focus on their health and routine, and how they can improve this side of themselves. I’m also currently in a self-transformational process in my personal life, so I’ve been drawn to books to help me through this challenging phase in my life. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but self-help and improvement is one of my favorite genres, and I tend to read a lot of books year-round. But, I thought I would lean in and make my Virgo TBR all about improving myself by reading some books that give off a self-help sort of vibe.
About Virgos
Virgo is the sixth sign in the astrology wheel. They’re a mutable earth sign and ruled by the planet Mercury. Virgos are deep thinkers and calculate every thought before speaking their truth. They are detail-oriented, logical, analytical, and can be very organized. Virgos may appear calm on the outside, but that’s because everything happens internally with this Zodiac sign. Because of this, they can be prone to anxiety and overthinking. Virgos can also be a bit private and can choose to isolate themselves as they love being alone, their corresponding Tarot card is the Hermit after all. This sign can also be a bit of a perfectionist, therefore, too critical of themselves.
Go read my Virgo astrology spotlight for more information on Virgo signs. There is also an astrology spotlight for each of the 12 zodiac signs.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?
Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, youโll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method, with its revolutionary category-by-category system, leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondoโs clients have lapsed (and she still has a three-month waiting list).
With detailed guidance for determining which items in your house โspark joyโ (and which donโt), this international bestseller will help you clear your clutter and enjoy the unique magic of a tidy homeโand the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.
What a choice, I know! Remember when Marie Kondo was everywhere? This was once a very popular book about organizing your life, and I never had any interest because I didn’t think I needed to read a book on cleaning and tidying my life. However, I’ve been due to tidy my closet and thought maybe this book can encourage me to tidy up my closet more quickly.

Meditations with Cows: What I’ve Learned from Daisy, the Dairy Cow Who Changed My Life by Shrive Stockton
An intimate memoir on the work and wonder of ranch life, critiquing the inhumane and environmentally destructive factory farm system and offering sustainable alternatives for ethical omnivores.
I’ve been wanting to read Meditations with Cows since I first found out about this book, because if you didn’t realize, cows are my favorite animal, and I love meditating. I’m not sure what to expect, because technically this is a memoir, but I’m hoping for some good cow content! I adore cows and know reading about them will better my mental health! haha

Mexican Magic by Laura Davila
Mexican Magic offers an overview of magic and spells from across Mexico for daily use. Although the bookโs spells may be practiced by anyone, they are deeply rooted in Mexican folk beliefs and magic. Featuring magical recipes, spells, tips, and advice for a wide variety of intentions, including love, lust, sex, good luck, money, protection, commerce, gambling, justice, pregnancy, travel, education, and more, Mexican Magic also offers direction on how to be a magical person and live a magical life
These next two books may be a bit of a stretch, but I personally find books about magic or witchcraft as a way to improve yourself, a bit like self-help. I found Mexican Magic pretty randomly. I was looking for another book about Mexican witchcraft and came across this one. It looks interesting, and I am Mexican, so I’m very intrigued by this book. Also, Mexico’s Independence Day is in September (September 16), so Mexico is a Virgo!

Green Witchcraft: A Practical Guide to Discovering the Magic of Plants, Herbs, Crystals, and Beyond by Paige Vanderbeck
Celebrate the spiritual power of the Autumn season with this guide to green witchcraft.
Green witchcraft is a school of magic that relies on living in harmony with the earth and its many natural wondersโand this book is your guide. Open yourself up to green magic with clear instructions on building your own practice, and performing spells and rituals like cleansing with moonlight, using honeysuckle to attract wealth, and harnessing quartz to direct positive energy.
Another book on witchcraft. I’m not a witch, but I do love witchy things and enjoy learning about the magical properties of crystals, herbs, plants, etc. A close-minded Virgo may find books about witchcraft ridiculous, but I think an open-minded Virgo would love learning about plants and rocks, and how to practically incorporate them into their lives. Plus, Virgo is an earth sign, so if anyone were to be a green witch, it would be an earth sign like Virgo. lol
