Splatoon Raiders Shark Power Gadget Bag Charm ♥ Crochet Pattern

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m a big Splatoon lover! I’ve reviewed the second game, and even crocheted two patterns inspired by the previous games! Now, with the release of their newest game for the Nintendo Switch 2, Splatoon Raiders, I wanted to create another cute pattern to celebrate their first single-player-focused game. Even though I do not own a Nintendo Switch 2… *cries in inkling*

While I was torturing myself by watching the Splatoon Raiders Nintendo Direct, the bag charms the mechanic characters wore on their ink tanks caught my eye. One of them in particular, which resembled a shark! Based on the direct, I believe these charms are called gadgets? Specifically, the power tank gadget! I loved how cute this puffy shark looked, so I attempted to recreate them with my favorite form of art, crochet! I successfully recreated them and am sharing the pattern for you all in this post. Not only that, but I also filmed a crochet tutorial on my YouTube channel, which you can watch and follow along as you make your own little shark power tank gadget!

Supplies
– 3 mm crochet hook (my favorite hook)
– White worsted-weight yarn
– Black worsted-weight yarn
– Olive-colored worsted-weight yarn
– Blue worsted-weight yarn
– Polyfil stuffing (my favorite brand)
– Black felt
– Red felt
– Twine
– Keychain charm clasp (I used these)
– Sewing pins (optional)
– Slanted tapestry needle (I use these)
– No-sew glue (this is my favorite)
– Scissors

Aberrations
ch(s) – chains
st(s) – stitch(es)
slst – slip stitch (same as join)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet
flo – front loop only
blo – back loop only
cc – color change
dec – decrease (same as sc2tog)
inc – increase (make 2sc in a single st)
RS – right side/front side
WS – wrong side/back side
(x_) – repeat (_) amount of times
[x_] – repeat everything inside the [_] times amount of times

Pattern Notes
The pattern is written in US terms.
In this pattern, I use an invisible crochet stitch to blend colored rows. Check out this video to see how I perform invisible crochet stitches.
If you would like to make this lightstick in a bigger size, you can use a bigger crochet hook and thicker yarn.

SHARK BODY
With a G hook and white yarn
Round 1: Magic circle, sc 5 sts in center. Total = 5 sts
Round 2: 2sc in each st. Total = 10 sts
Round 3: [2sc in next st, sc 1 st](x5). Total = 15 sts
Round 4: [2sc in next st, sc 2 sts](x5). Total = 20 sts
Round 5: [2sc in next st, sc 3 sts](x5). Total = 25 sts
Rounds 6-8: sc 25 sts. Total = 25 sts
cc to black yarn
Round 9: sc 6 sts, blo sc 13 sts, sc 6 sts. Total = 25 sts
cc to olive-colored yarn
Rounds 10-14: sc 25 sts. Total = 25 its
*start stuffing*
Round 15: [dec 1, st 1 st](x13). Total = 12 sts
Round 16: dec 12 sts. Total = 6 sts
Cut off and leave long tail for sewing

SHARK BODY DETAIL
With a G hook and blue yarn
Work this on the back loops from the previous section (round 9)
Row 1: slst to 1st st, ch 3 (count as 1st tr st), 2tr in same st, [3tc sts in each st](x12). Total = 39 sts
Cut off and weave loose yarn ends

SHARK ARMS (make 2)
With a G hook and white yarn
Round 1: Magic circle 3 sts. Total = 3 sts
Round 2: 2sc in each st. Total = 6 sts
Round 3: [2sc in next st, sc 2 sts](x2). Total = 8 sts
Round 4: Sc 8 sts. Total = 8 sts
Cut off and leave long tail for sewing

SHARK FINS (make 2)
With a G hook and white yarn
Row 1: ch 5, sc 4 sts. Total = 4 sts
Row 2: ch 1, dec 1. Total = 1 st
Rows 3-4: ch 1, sc 1 st. Total = 1 st
Cut off and leave long tail for sewing

Assembly

Sew the two shark top fin pieces together by sewing the around the pieces. Using sewing pins, carefully place each of the shark fins (refer to the video if you need help with the placement). Leave loose yarn tails, but leave enough extra to attach the keychain to the top of the shark’s top fin. With felt, cut out the face of the shark and use a no-sew glue to place the pieces on the front side of the shark’s body (the white part). Lightly press down the pieces and leave the glue to dry and set.
