Books I Want to Read During Scorpio Season ♥ Scorpio TBR

Welcome back to another Zodiac sign TBR! In this series, I’ll be recommending books that I think give off the feeling of a certain zodiac sign. I judge books based on the cover and/or synopsis to determine which zodiac sign vibes with said book. This is a TBR, so I hope to read one (if not all) of these books within the length of a certain astrological season and before the end of the month. If you missed the previous zodiac TBR in this series, go check read that post and all my bookish blog posts here.
We have now entered the darker season, which means it’s time for Scorpios to shine! Some people might mistake the zodiac sign of Scorpio as a fire sign because they can come off as intense (a common fire sign trait). However, they’re actually a water sign! Scorpio is the cool goth older sister of the water signs. They’re brave but also sensitive, but they will also scare away your bullies. Think Wednesday Addams energy. The genres that remind me of the Scorpio aesthetic are horror, mystery novels, and witchy books. This month, I chose books that fit that vibe, however, I also plan on catching up on some of the books I missed in my past astrology TBR during Scorpio season.
About Scorpios
Scorpio is the eighth sign in the astrology wheel. They’re a fixed water sign and ruled by the planet of Pluto. Scorpios are the mysterious sign that can come off as cold, intimidating, and intense, but that’s Scorpio for you! Scorpios can come off as unapproachable, but they’re just trying to protect themselves. Remember, they’re a water sign, so they’re saving their emotions for the chosen ones. They can’t be vulnerable with just anyone!
The tarot card that represents Scorpio is the death card, so metal. The Death card is all about transformation and rebirth, and Scorpios do it in a secretive way. Similar to their sister sign, Taurus, Scorpios are passionate and determined, but they do it in a more private and independent way. Because of their intense, fearless attitude, Scorpios can be interested in obscure dark topics, such as the occult.

Double Sin and Other Stories by Agatha Christie
In one of London’s most elegant shops, a doll in green velvet is found every morning, seated in a different chair…In a small country church, an uninvited stranger is discovered sprawled at the altar. In this superb collection of treats for mystery lovers, both the indomitable English gentlewoman, Miss Marple, and the inimitable Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, put their powers to the test.
Of course, I had to include a novel by the “queen of mystery”, Agatha Christie. I bought Double Sin and Other Stories whilst at a book festival that I attended in early October. This short story collection caught my attention because it has a story about a creepy doll! You know, I love creepy dolls! It’s been a minute since I read something about Agatha Christie, so I’m excited to get immersed in her world again, especially during Scorpio season!

Witchcraft At Salem by Chadwick Hansen
Witchcraft at Salem represents a bold new look at history, conventional wisdom-and above all, the uncanny extra-physical powers that human beings can wield over one another. The product of brilliant scholarship and searching intelligence, it takes you further than ever before into a hypnotically enthralling area of speculation and investigation.
This was another book that I picked up at the same book sale where I got the previous novel. I wanted to read this during October, but I simply ran out of time. However, because it’s still spooky season, I thought, why not read about the Salem Witch Trials? I know the basic premise from back when I was in school, but it never hurts to learn more! Especially from such a bizarre moment in US history. It’s actually better to read this during Scorpio season because most Scorpio signs are interested in witchy subjects.

Bewitching the Elements: A Guide to Empowering Yourself Through Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit by Gabriela Herstik
Through earth, learn how to ground and create compassionate boundaries. Through air, harness the breath, balance the body, and find presence in the moment. Through fire, embody passion, burning away what no longer serves you, and learn to constructively work with anger. Through water, explore your emotional depths and come back to the heart. Through spirit, connect to your own sense of power, embracing all of the lessons of the elements.
Committing to a path that serves our authentic selves is a radical act. When we do this work alongside nature, by turning to the elements, we find a map back to our intuitive and energetic wisdom.
As I mentioned, I’m leaning into my witchy side this season as a way to embrace my personal Scorpio side. By the way, if you’re a millennial (boring between 1983-1995), you also have Pluto in Scorpio, and chances are you’re not afraid to rebel, uplift, and transform your life for the better, even if it means you have to do it while crying. Anyways, I loved the description of Bewitching the Elements, it sounds like the perfect witchy guidebook to read during Scorpio season.
