Books I Want To Read During Sagittarius Season ♥ Sagittarius TBR

Welcome back to another Zodiac sign TBR! In this series, I’ll be recommending books that I think give off the feeling of a certain zodiac sign. I judge books based on the cover and/or synopsis to determine which zodiac sign vibes with said book. This is a TBR, so I hope to read one (if not all) of these books within the length of a certain astrological season and before the end of the month. If you missed the previous zodiac TBR in this series, go check read that post and all my bookish blog posts here.

We’ve reached Sagittarius season! But, don’t fret! This isn’t the last Zodiac TBR, as that will be Capricron season at the end of December. For now, let’s focus on Sagittarius. Picking out books for the sign of Sagittarius was pretty easy. I already had some picks in mind.

The Sagittarius is a sign that is known for adventure, so any series about a journey would be ideal for Sagittarius. However, I’m not a series girlie, so I went with standalones. Traveling is another genre that comes to mind when I think about books for a Sagittarius TBR. Sagittarius signs love to explore and are always down to travel, whether it be with loved ones or alone. Sagittarius is a very independent sign. They’re also a very smart sign as they love higher learning, which can be traditional education, unconventional, or even spiritual learning. Guidebooks or any books to help teach you something would also be good to read this season. I’m still currently in the middle of reading Bewitching the Elements, which I featured in my previous TBR. I couldn’t have picked a better book to transition from Scorpio season to Sagittarius season!

About Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the ninth sign in the astrology wheel. They’re a mutable fire sign and ruled by Jupiter. Sagittarius is an adventurous sign that doesn’t like to stay still! Sagittarius people are natural travelers and love exploring new locations. The sign of Sagittarius is also known as the philosopher, as they love learning and teaching, and have a childlike curiosity about topics that they don’t understand. They have a hunger for knowledge and seek out higher learning and, therefore, tend to be really intelligent.

Similar to their sister sign, Gemini, they need a lot of mental stimulation to be satisfied. They love trying out new activities and aren’t afraid to take action and try something different. Those born under the sign of Sagittarius are all about expansion. They crave freedom and wandering the world, searching for new experiences. As I mentioned, they don’t like to be tied down and are fiercely independent individuals. A Sagittarius won’t mind leaving you behind if it means broadening their horizon!

Wild Spectacle: Seeking Wonders in a World Beyond Humans by Janisse Ray
Janisse Ray has always set out to immerse herself in wildness, to be wild, and to learn what wildness can teach us. From overwintering with monarch butterflies in Mexico to counting birds in Belize, the stories in Wild Spectacle capture moments of heart-pounding amazement, discovery of romance, and living more wisely. In essays that span Alaska to Central America, Ray questions what it means to be in the wild as a woman, the impacts of ecotourism and travel in general, how to face danger and sadness, and assumptions about eating from the land. Wild Spectacle invites us to embrace the known and unknown beauties and curiosities around us.

I picked up Wild Spectacle over the summer when I was in Savannah. When I read the synopsis, I knew I needed this book for my Sagittarius TBR. I’ve been saving this book specifically for this TBR! Based on skimming the pages, every chapter seems to be in a different location, so it’s perfect for Sagittarius season!

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed
At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone.

Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her

Another adventurous book! I’ve heard so much about this book from my favorite book podcast, Books Unbound. They’ve mentioned it a couple of times, so I made a mental note to read it during this season. Trails, hiking, mountain climbing, camping, and anything involving the outdoors just seem like such a Sagittarius thing.

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
READERS OF ALL AGES AND WALKS OF LIFE have drawn inspiration and empowerment from Elizabeth Gilbert’s books for years. Now this beloved author digs deep into her-own generative process to share her wisdom and unique perspective on creativity. With profound empathy and radiant generosity, she offers potent insights into the mysterious nature of inspiration. Whether we are looking to write a book, make art, find new ways to address challenges in our work, embark on a dream long deferred, or simply infuse our everyday lives with more mindfulness and passion, Big Magic cracks open a world of wonder and joy.

I read a lot of books on creativity this year, but none of them compared to Big Magic. I read Big Magic back in 2018! So, a reread is long overdue! I want to see if it can live up to the hype that I still remember it being. How does this relate to the zodiac sign of Sagittarius? Expansion. Higher learning. New adventures. Growth. Creativity. I honestly think Sagittarius season would be the perfect time to read Big Magic again. Plus, with it being the end of the year, I would love some inspiration andor advice for my creative practice for the new year.
