PURITO Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser & Calming Gel Cream โ™ฅ Beauty Review

I was sent the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser & Calming Gel Cream a few months ago to try out. Like with every skincare product, I like to take some time to really get to know the product and how it works on my skin before I write a full review post. Rest assured, that I’m giving my honest thoughts and opinions with every product I review, whether they were sent to me for free or not. Even though I post skincare videos on TikTok, I’m always hesitant to give a full review on any beauty product. Even though a product may work well for a few days or a week, it can eventually lead to breakouts. Because of my skin type, I have to be careful about introducing a new skincare product to my routine.

I’ve never had an issue with any Purito skincare products, which is why I’m so open to reviewing their skincare products. However, when I heard the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser came with actual oat particles in the cleanser, I was a bit confused. I know you’re not supposed to use a physical exfoliate on facial skin, especially sensitive skin, which this product is marketed to. Using products with a chemical exfoliate such as an AHA, BHA, or PHA, are more gentle on the skin and gives the same benefits of exfoliating without ripping the skin. With that said, I did end up trying the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser for you all. Keep reading to find out what ended up happening.

The Purito Oat In collection is designed for sensitive skin types. The ingredients in the Oat In line are designed to soothe and hydrate the skin barrier. Both the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser & Calming Gel Cream contain Gunsan Oat Seed Water and panthenol. Gunsan Oat Seed Water contains exceptional moisturizing properties that provide instant hydration, soothe sensitive skin, and help restore moisture balance. Panthenol converts to vitamin B5 when absorbed into the skin, helping to strengthen the skin barrier by improving water retention and hydration.

MY SKIN TYPE
My skin texture is pretty clear and smooth, and I don’t suffer from any major skin issues. I do have mild Rosacea. I still get some redness but it’s not as bad as it was a few years ago. With that said, I do tend to gravitate towards products that are marketed towards reducing redness as a way to combat rosacea flare-ups.

My skin type is somewhere between normal and sensitive. I get both dry and oily areas across my face, but it depends on the season. I do have large pores and blackheads, especially around my nose area, and rarely experience any breakouts. I’m not sensitive to any particular ingredients (that I know of), but some of the most random things break me out. I do experience redness when I apply certain products but it goes away within a few seconds.

MY EXPERIENCE
I used the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser for 2-3 weeks, not daily though. I was very hesitant to use this cleanser because it has oat particles that you can see and feel in the cleanser. It’s very reminiscent of the St. Ives Apricot scrub days. However, Purito did mention that the oat particles in this cleanser are gentle enough to use daily, so I trusted them. The cleanser has a clay-like texture with tiny particles that supposed to be the oat particles. At first, I did notice my face looked brighter and refreshed. But, I started noticing some redness after about day 4 of using this cleanser, so I switched to using it every other day to give my skin a break and prevent any breakouts. I know you can also use this cleanser as a mask since it’s a 2-in-1 mask and cleanser, but I didn’t get the chance to try it out as a mask because I forgot to.

The Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser is also supposed to produce a gentle foam lather, but I rarely ever noticed this when I washed my face with this cleanser. In fact, for the TikTok video above, I used a lot of the product and water to create that foamy lather. It also had a strange scent. I know it’s supposed to be oat, but it didn’t smell like oats to me, and I found the smell off-putting. This product contains almond and oat powder, so if you have allergies to either ingredient, you may want to avoid this product.

Personally, I wasn’t a fan of this cleanser. I’m not a fan of the scent, and I can’t use it daily. I also prefer to use a chemical exfoliator over a physical one. If you have a similar skin type to mine or a very sensitive skin type, I wouldn’t recommend this cleanser. I still have a decent amount of this cleanser left, so I plan to use it as a body exfoliater going forward.

MY EXPERIENCE
When I first heard this cream described as “fungal acne safe moisturizer” I found this description confusing, and, honestly, didn’t find it appealing. I don’t suffer from acne, so I wasn’t sure if I would benefit from using this skincare product. However, I still went ahead and gave it a try because I had never been wronged by a Purito Seoul skincare product before. I received and tested this product before using the Purito Oat In Gentle Exfoliating Face Cleanser.

The Purito Oat In Calming Gel Cream is more of a gel than a cream, in fact, it’s not even creamy. The consistency is that of a gel. It’s hydrating and gives a cooling sensation. This product came in handy during the hot summer months! It refreshed my skin without feeling heavy, sticky, or greasy, and didn’t leave any residue. There isn’t much of a scent either.

In terms of skin benefits, I didn’t feel like it did anything to my skin other than soothe my redness. If you’re looking for a lightweight gel that’s safe for sensitive skin, this would be a good choice! Overall, it’s an alright product.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Like I mentioned, I’ve never had a negative experience with a Purito skincare product, and I still wouldn’t say I hate either one of these products, but I wouldn’t repurchase them. Purito has much better products. Like the Wonder Releaf Centella collection, the Mighty Bamboo Panthenol line, or their sunscreens. Their Oat In cleanser or gel cream? I’m not a fan of these two skincare products. Purito also recently released the Oat PDRN Gentle Refining Toner, which I would be open to trying.
