☆ I’m a sports girlie, but lately FIFA has taken over our household. Literally all of our Father’s Day gifts to our dad were related to FIFA! On Wednesday, Mexico won in a 3-0 in their game against Czechia. This means they’re one step closer to the finals! As I mentioned, I’m not into sports or fútbol, but if it makes my family happy, I’ll be rooting for them too. Is anybody else watching the World Cup? Who are you rooting for?

☆ I spontaneously bought a copy of Samantha’s Cookbook: A Peek at Dining in the Past with Meals You Can Cook Today after reading an essay in An American Girl Anthology and binge-watching a lot of recipe vlogs from the historical American Girl cookbooks. I’m most excited to make the jelly biscuits and this thing called “apple brown betty” which sounds like baked apples in brown sugar. I’m going to have my best Samantha Parkington summer!

☆ Ever since I’ve doubled down on my summer fitness goals, my algorithm has been inundated with a lot of healthy recipes, which I don’t mind. What I do mind is all the fitness influencers. I rarely follow fitness influencers because a lot of them aren’t qualified instructors, nutritionalists or have ever had to lose weight, which is what I’ve always struggled with. However, I found a fitness creator whose weight loss journey I find motivating. But, I later found out that they used a GLP-1, which they were somewhat hiding by rarely talking about. I’m sorry, but I feel like this is what you should be up front about. Even if you are consistently working out and eating healthy, if you take something to help you lose weight (even if your doctor suggested it), you should be transparent about it.

When I was young and got access to the internet, one of the first things that I looked up was how to lose weight. I was 10. For years, I thought that if I followed the workouts and diets of the people who I wanted to look like, I could look like that. It wasn’t until years later that I found out that that isn’t true. Many factors dictate how you lose weight, such as age, height, metabolism, family background, your upbringing, and so much more. All this to say, before you choose to follow a fit-looking person’s advice online, do your research.
