☆ Back when I was in my late teens/early 20s, I used to always look forward to December because a lot of my favorite YouTubers would participate in vlogmas, a series of daily vlogs leading up to Christmas Day. Last year, when I entered my Blythe era, I came across the channel Claire Who Makes Things because Claire is also a fellow Blythe doll collector! I found her channel because she unboxes a lot of Blythe dolls. She’s been posting vlogmas videos for a few years, and I’ve been really anticipating to her vlogmas videos this year! Besides doll collecting, Claire also has several hobbies like sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc, which she also discusses in her videos. I find her videos calming, and Claire is quite charming! If you’re a doll collector or crafter, I highly recommend her videos. Are you watching anyone’s vlogmas videos this year?

☆ I’m only 8 subscribers away from reaching my 2025 goal of 50 subscribers on my Blythe doll Substack! So, if you haven’t subscribed to my substack, why not do so now? Make sure to spread the word, too! Shameless plug, I know!

☆ This week, Spotify released its end-of-the-year Wrapped series. I use Apple Music, but Apple also released its 2025 statistics this week! My top group was My Chemical Romance, which I’ve come to realize is my comfort group. When I was living in South Korea, I also listened to MCR on repeat. As for albums, PRINCESS OF POWER by MARINA was my top album. My top song was E’LAST – Intro Dystopia, which is an instrumental that I use as my alarm. I do this with a lot of instrumentals. My second most listened to song was MCR’s The Foundations of Decay, and my third was GD’s DRAMA. K-pop was still my most listened to genre. What were your top music stats of 2025?
If I’m being honest, I feel like 2025 was the worst year for K-pop music. I’ve been listening to K-pop for half my life (I’m 32), and I’m happy for the growth of the genre and that Korean artists get more opportunities as a result. However, I feel like the quality of music has gone down and that a lot more K-pop songs are sung in English rather than in Korean. The genre as a whole has become so mainstream and every group sounds so similar to each other, that it’s lost its originality, which is what drew me to the genre in the first place. Maybe I’m just outgrowing K-pop. Do any long-term K-pop fans feel this way? At least, there is always the music from the past…
