Morelia, Michoacán ♥ Photo Diary & Haul

I’m back from a week of being in Mexico! I spent a week in Mexico with my mom, taking care of personal matters. This wasn’t an adventurous trip, but more of a leisurely trip. In true Michelle fashion, I lived in the moment and rarely remembered to take any photos. By this point, I have few Mexican photo diaries that you can see here, if you want to see or read more about Morelia, Michoacán, which is the place my family is based in Mexico. This post will mainly consist of cute things I saw and bought and share some stories of what I got up to whilst in Mexico.

On one of our first days, my mom and I went shopping for groceries, and I saw a candle with several dog breeds printed on it. It had a Pomeranian, so of course I felt called to it! At the same store, I saw a box of ginger lemon tea with a limited edition Alice in Wonderland packaging. Lemon ginger tea also happens to be one of my favorite tea flavors so obviously I needed this box of tea. We also

The day after Mother’s Day, my mom and I booked a mother-daughter massage and facials! They still had an offer going on, so we jumped on the oppuritunity. I’ve never gotten a professional massage before, and I thought I would hate it because I don’t like people touching me, but I actually ended up really loving it! The week before, I felt like I pulled a muscle in my upper right shoulder, and I feel like the massage helped ease the soreness I felt. It was a very relaxing 2 hours. The lady also extracted all of the blackheads on my nose! She even took a before-and-after photo of my nose to showcase the results on her Instagram! lol

The following day, we went to Sam’s Club because my mom wanted to buy some stuff for the house. I was surprised by the number of cute things I was able to find! They had a lot of Sanrio x Care Bears shirts, pink egg cartons, and Care Bear printed paper towels!

In the middle of the week (I believe Thursday?) I got a gel manicure. It’s been a minute since I had my nails painted with gel polish. Because I can be a bit indecisive and love changing up my nails so often, I tend to paint them myself with regular nail polish. However, my mom was getting her nails done, so I thought I would join her. I chose this bright hot pink color, which I’ just loved’m obsessed with! I’m afraid I might be obsessed with gel nails now!

On our last day, we went to the main downtown area and went shopping for some souvenirs. Our first stop was Miniso, because yes, there’s a Miniso in the center of the historic downtown Morelia. I bought a miniature shopping cart, which I’ve tried looking for in the Miniso’s in the US but haven’t been able to find anywhere! Isn’t that just the way? In the same section as the shopping cart, I also found a Kuromi 3-tier cart! I bought both of these with the intention of using them as props for my Blythe dolls. I specifically want to turn the 3-tier cart into a book cart! I think that would be a really cute gift for my dollies!

After leaving Miniso, it began to sprinkle, so we popped into a cafe nearby to avoid getting rained on. I ordered a cappuccino frappe and a crepe filled with cajeta and cream cheese. It was delicious! Later, at a store nearby, we saw some cute logo shirts. My older sister wanted a Mexican soccer shirt, so we were on the lookout! At the same store, I saw a cute Pomeranian shirt, and what it said just sold me! Pomeranians will always have a special place in my heart.

Afterward, we went to the Mercado de Dulces. I was on the hunt for some cute Mexican cloth dolls to add to my collection. I already own two, but you can never own enough dolls, am I right? I’m actually not sure if these dolls have a specific name, so if any of my fellow Mexican girlies know, let me know. These muñecas have a special place in my heart because, as I doll-obessed child, I always asked for one of these types of dolls when we came to the Mercado de Dulces. This time, I was specifically looking for a Dia de los Muertos cloth doll. Last time I was in Mexico, I saw someone with a doll like that, so I made a mental note to search for one next time I was in Mexico. I only found one stand that had Day of the Dead-inspired dolls. The same stand had a lot of different variations of colors and styles of the Mexican cloth dolls. I found a beautiful floral doll with stunning, intricate embroidery, so of course, I had to get her too! It’s funny, because these two muñecas describe my personalities perfectly! haha

Overall, it was a quick yet relaxing trip. I haven’t been on a trip out of the house since Lucy passed away, and I really needed it. It’s nice to be out and exploring and not constantly thinking about her. I need to book another trip soon!
