Mimikyu Plush ♥ Crochet Pattern

As an early Halloween treat, I’m reposting my Mimikyu plush crochet pattern! I originally posted this pattern back when I was on Blogger. But, for some reason, this post was erased or deleted when I transferred from Blogger to WordPress in 2019. Thankfully, I still had the pattern saved on my Blogger account, so I was easily able to access the pattern. However, it was written in my old crochet pattern format, the one that I write in my notes. My first crochet patterns I ever posted online were written in this format, but I’ve been slowly reformatting my old crochet patterns to a newer format that is easier for crocheters to understand. I have over 70 patterns, so please be patient with me as I rewrite all my old patterns.
Back to Mimikyu! Mimikyu first appeared in Pokémon: Sun and Moon, back in 2016! They are a ghost and fairy Pokémon that disguises themself under an old rag that resembles a Pikachu. Mimikyu’s “tail” is actually a brown stick that conveniently looks like Pikachu’s lightning bolt tail! The dashes on Mimikyu’s body are supposed to be the real Mimikyu’s eyes. Some may say Mimikyu is creepy, but I have sympathy towards them. The theory is that Mimikyu dresses up as Pikachu because it’s lonely and wants to make friends, and thinks that by dressing up as the popular Pokémon, Pikachu, it will make friends. I’m not crying, you’re crying!

ASSEMBLY
If you want Mimikyu’s ears to droop, snip a small piece of wire and add it to the top part of the ear before you sew it to Mimikyu’s body. You can use hot glue to keep the wire in place. Of course, this step is optional. Stuff the ear, not the black part, and attach to Mimikyu’s head.
To create Mimikyu’s eyes, mouth, and cheeks, I used a Ziploc bag, glue, yarn, and embroidery floss. Using the glue, I drew out Mimikyu’s face features on the bag. Then, I carefully placed the embroidery floss (use a toothpick for help) over the glue and pressed lightly. For the mouth, I used black yarn to create a thicker smile. Wait until the glue is completely dry, then carefully peel off all the pieces and glue them onto Mimikyu’s head. Sew the head to the body, and your Mimikyu is ready to be loved!
What’s your favorite ghost Pokémon?
