Welcome back to another deck review. In the post, I’ll be reviewing the Messages From Her by Rachael McKeen with illustrations by Harley & J. Check out my last deck review here. Continue reading to find out my thoughts and opinions on this card deck.
Messages from Her is a gilded, beautifully illustrated, 44-card oracle deck and hardcover book created to lend power and knowledge to your daily life. The cards and correlating book contained in this box feature some of the world’s most impactful women of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Learn about the lives of these women, their quotes, and their successes, and invite them to guide you through your deepest challenges and invoke your most powerful strengths. May their trials, triumphs, and paths they have forged inspire you to live your most amazing life.
The Messages from Her was created by Rachael McKeen with artwork by Harley & J. Rachael McKee is a Colorado-based writer and artist who has always used writing as creative self-care. With a background in design and ethical business, she’s always imagining new ways to bring inspiring projects and business into the world. Jasmin Meier is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Northern Rivers. They’ve been freelancing under the name “Harley and J” for the past decade.

The Messages From Her comes with 44 cards and a 104-page hardcover guidebook. The cards are printed on glossy cardstock, embossed with gold foil detail. They are a dream to shuffle as they have a slip to them. The earthy neutral color palette is so refreshing to see. Most of the decks I own are pastel or super colorful, so having a deck with this color scheme is so different from the tarot and oracle decks I’m drawn to. The illustrations in this deck are a bit simple, but the gold foil detail in the deck pairs wonderfully with the artwork and makes the deck special.
This deck is very well researched, and you learn a lot about the powerful women featured in this deck. I love that the deck contained a diverse group of women of the 20th and 21st centuries of different ages, races, backgrounds, body types, and socioeconomic statuses.
You may not know all of these women, or maybe you know of their name, but not what they’re known for. The Messages From Her teaches you about the 44 incredible, fearless women by hearing their stories about what made them the resilient, empowering women they’re known for being today! I guarantee you will be inspired!
The guidebook is another awesome highlight! The hardcover booklet is a bit larger than most guidebooks, but the quality is fantastic and jam-packed with so much information! Inside, each woman/card gets a 2-page spread with a black and white illustration on the corner, with info about their origin story and their contribution. I learned so much!

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Finding flaws with this card deck was difficult. I only have one major concern, which I’ll discuss more below. But I wasn’t a huge fan of the box the card deck came packaged in. It’s pretty big and bulky. You have to slip the top of the box open. Inside the box, the booklet lies on top of the cards and covers them, which makes quick access to this deck not an easy task. This is one of those decks that you should probably keep in a pouch if you plan to use it frequently.
My biggest concern with this deck is that some of the women chosen to be in this deck are, well, questionable. Messages From Her was released in 2023, and since then, some of these women have done some controversial things. I won’t say who, but I feel like maybe this deck should’ve chosen women who have already passed away to avoid any scandals that these women might cause in the future.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, this is a good quality deck for any woman or anybody who wants to embody strong feminine energy. It’s a good quality deck, and the guidebook is very informative. There is a lot of research that went into this deck, and it shows! In the booklet, the creator, Rachael McKee, mentioned this is the first volume, so maybe there’ll be more Messages From Her featuring more badass women to share their wisdom with you! We will have to wait and see!
