It’s STILL Spooky Season Mood Board

Even though everyone is already celebrating the holiday season, I’m still keeping spooky season alive! I had originally planned to publish this post last week in time for Halloween, but your girl was busy making costumes for her Blythe dolls, you know, priorities. However, I still plan on keeping my Halloween and Dia de los Muertos decorations up until the end of November or at least until the end of Scorpio season because I would rather look at colorful skulls than anything having to do with Christmas. Yes, I’m a real Grinch! lol
For those new to my mood board series, these boards are meant to set the mood for the season. My mood boards are a mixed media that includes a plethora of art prints, postcards, and ephemera that I attach to my desk bulletin board, to inspire my creative work.
I was actually surprised to see that this was only my second mood board that I created this year! And with the New Year just around the corner, that means I’ll be making another New Year mood board in a few months. This year flew by!

For my spooky season mood board, I tried to keep my bulletin board spooky, creepy, but still kawaii because that’s my aesthetic. I love pastel and bright colors, and cute characters and artwork, but to make this mood board more suitable for spooky season, I added some creepy, ghostie, and witchy prints.

The only new prints I added this year were a bunny print from Starsxxlullabies, and a Mimikyu print from Michelle Coffee. The bat and skull, magical grimore, and candy pumpkin prints on this mood board are all by Michelle Coffee. She also illustrated the Mimikyu and Duskull Pokémon stickers. She’s one of my favorite artists/illustrators!
Because Hello Kitty and Kuromi are both Scorpios, I gave these girls some love by adding them to my spooky mood board. The Kuromi print is by HelloPaperCat. The two witchy and Gengar die-cuts are also by HelloPaperCat.
I added my two favorite Gideon’s Bake House menus (I use as prints) because I love their artwork! The Butterscotch card is a new addition. I actually forgot I had it! She’s so cute! I always like to include tags from businesses, such as BrightBat logo, Stay Cute, and Current Moon. These all gave me spooky Halloween vibes, so I decided to attach them to my bulletin board.
The Coffee tarot card sticker and the Juliette Garden Low House were both items I picked up from my trip to Savannah earlier this year. The gorgeous witch prints are by Vickisigh. *sigh* I miss the days when I could support a lot of artists via Patreon…

Instead of my go-to autumn pumpkin garland, I decided to give my candy skull garland some love because it’s been getting a lot of love irl. The other crochet goodies on this mood board include two witch hats, a haunted house, a pumpkin applique, and a witch’s broom. All of these crochet projects are available for free on my website. You’re welcome!
At the bottom of my bulletin board, I taped up some glittery spiders that I got a couple of years ago. I never know what to do with these, so I mainly use them as props for photos. However, I thought they would look cute if I strung them across my mood board. They’ve fallen a couple of times, but hopefully they’ll survive a bit longer because I really don’t want to take them down yet.
Check out my spooky autumnal mood board from last year here and let me know which mood board you prefer in the comments.
Have you taken down your Halloween decorations yet?
