How I Work with Venus/Aphrodite ♥ Goddess magick

I’ve struggled with my appearance and body dysmorphia since I was 10. Now, as an adult, it’s up to me to tackle these issues to improve my self-worth. I am currently in therapy and this is one of the issues that I hope to resolve with the help of my therapist. But, as your magical “woo-woo” friend, I also consult with other forces to help me get through this issue, goddesses!

Last year, while in Italy, I bought a statue of Venus. After returning from Rome, I decided to make a beauty altar for myself, as a self-love gesture and placed the statue of Venus at the center of this altar because it felt right. This beauty altar eventually became an altar for Venus. I slowly started working with her as a way to improve my self-image and love myself more. It hasn’t even been a year, but I’ve already seen a vast improvement in my appearance and have enhanced my self-love journey in ways I’ve never thought possible! My practice with Venus has transformed my thoughts about myself by exploring my self-worth and she has made me appreciate all aspects of myself, especially my insecurities.

I wanted to share a bit of my practice with you all, in case you also suffer from self-image problems or are interested in learning to work with the goddess, Venus/Aphrodite. At the end of this post, I even include some pictures of my Venus beauty altar to inspire you!

who is venus?

Venus (Roman)/Aphrodite (Greek) is the goddess of passion, love, beauty, abundance, fertility, creativity, sex, and seduction. Born from the sea, Venus reminds us to love and nurture ourselves without the approval of others. Seek her guidance if you would like to embrace your feminine side and amplify your self-love journey.

Offerings: Roses (Any color but especially white roses), seashells, fruits, honey, perfume, gold, rose or honey incense, white or pink candles, pearls, water, copper, chocolate, rosemary sprigs, silk, and rose quartz

I personally work with Venus as a way to improve my self-love. However, if you would like to work with her as a way to improve your luck with love, passion, lust, romance, sensuality, or seduction. I recommend using the color red, dark red, hot pink, or burgundy in your practice with her.

HOW I WORK WITH VENUS
Astrology plays a big role in my practice with Venus. Depending on where the Zodiac signs and planets are located at the given time, I’ll decide what type of ritual or glamour magick to work with Venus.

However, I celebrate every Friday (Venus day) in her honor because Fridays are her sacred day. Every Friday, I light a candle and/or rose incense, and pull a card from the Rose Oracle and the Mythic Goddess tarot deck. These two decks, I’ve dedicated specifically to Venus. I will play some music (I really like this YouTube channel) for her, and listen to a self-love guided meditation. I’ll also spritz a bit of perfume for her, and indulge in a beauty ritual. I might also clean and rearrange her altar and present her with some new offerings.

Below, I’ve listed some examples of rituals you can do for Venus. You can choose to do any of these rituals daily or on a Friday, or during Taurus or Libra season (these signs are ruled by Venus). Every self-care activity can be a devotion to Venus. I do most of these daily beauty rituals in front of my Venus altar.

MY VENUS BEAUTY ALTAR

My Venus/Aphrodite is nestled on top of my apothecary drawers, which is where I store my makeup and beauty tools. The mirror in front of the Venus statue is what I look at when I perform my skincare and hair routines. I decorated her altar with things I think she’ll love like rose quartz crystals, candles, pink things (her colors are pink, white, seafoam blue, and red), jewelry, a mimnature mirror, my makeup brushes, a bottle of rose seasalt, perfumes, a dolphin gemstone (she loves sea creatures), my rose quartz gua sha, some written affirmations, and I even keep a bathtub dish of dried rose petals for her!

Every night, I recite my affirmations while I do my evening skincare routine and gua sha. All this while looking at my Venus statue, imagining her presence. Since I’ve kept my gua sha tool on her altar, I imagine that her Venusian goddess energy was imbued in the tool.

VENUS BEAUTY ALTAR ADVICE
If you’re interested in creating a Venus Beauty Altar. You don’t need a huge space. Use what you have available, like I did. Since she’s ruled by the element of water, you can even create a Venus altar in your bathroom. Venus would adore that! If you would like to create a Venus altar, you can use a picture of Venus/Aphrodite instead of a statue.

Venus likes cleanliness and doesn’t like it when your space or her altar is too cluttered or dusty. If you plan to make a Venus/Aphrodite altar, make sure to clean her altar a few times a month or even weekly, on a Friday. Regularly tidy your Venus altar to cleanse away unwanted negative energy. Use Florida water or rosemary water (another great offering!) and wipe with a cloth. I also like to change up the items and offerings on my beauty altar for Venus.
