Splatoon Squid Plush ♥ Crochet Pattern

Hi, it’s Michelle from 2025! I’ve been going back to my past crochet patterns and reformatting my old patterns so that they’re easier to understand. I first posted this pattern back in 2015! It was part of my ’12 Days of DIY’ Blogmas series, where I would post 12 DIY projects leading up to Christmas in December. Baby Michelle was sure ambitious! lol
This crochet pattern was inspired by the video game Splatoon. I first played Splatoon on the Wii U and fell in love with the game, so I wanted to crochet one of the squid mascots. At the time, there wasn’t any Splatoon merch (that I knew of), so I decided to create my own!
When I first made this pattern, I thought that the Splatoon squid only had three tentacles, but I later found out it had four tentacles! This is why this plush only has three legs instead of four. However, since I’m writing for the future (still Michelle from 2025), I adjusted the pattern so that you can easily add a fourth leg/tentacle!
If you crochet this project, you can post it on Ravelry or tag me @mooeyscrochet so that I can see your creation. ASSEMBLY
At this point, you have 3-4 squid legs/tentacles. To connect the tentacles, you should have 30-40 sts, sew 10 sts per each leg/tentacle until all legs are attached to the body. Stuff with polyfil stuffing as you sew. Weave in all loose yarn ends.
With black and white felt, cut out all of the Squid’s features. You can trace all these parts on a piece of paper to serve as a template if you like. After you cut out all the felt pieces, glue them onto the squid and leave to dry.
Have you played Splatoon?

Could you please make a male and female splatoon inkling hat?
There are already a few Splatoon inkling hats online. Check on Raverly! ♥
aw this is so cute! I just made it, and it turned out wonderfully! I stitched the eyes instead of doing felt, and altered it so there are four tentacles, so as to make it more true to the in-game ones. I normally just wing my alterations, so I didn't write down a pattern, unfortunately. thank you so much for making this pattern!
Nice! You're welcome ♥
