Books I Want To Read During Aries Season ♥ Aries TBR

Welcome back to another Zodiac sign TBR! In this series, I’ll be recommending books that I think give off the feeling of a certain zodiac sign. I judge books based on the cover and/or synopsis to determine which zodiac sign vibes with said book. This is a TBR, so I hope to read one (if not all) of these books within the length of a certain astrological season and/or before the end of the month. If you missed the previous zodiac TBR in this series, go read that post and all my bookish blog posts here.
We’ve finally reached the final sign of my astrology TBR series. It’s kind of ironic that this series finishes off with the first sign of the zodiac wheel. Because I posted my last two Zodiac TBRs late, I wanted to publish this one early so that you could all have time to select a book to read during Aries season. If you know anything about astrology, you know that there is a A LOT of Aries energy circulating in the stars right now. So, if you’ve been feeling extra tense lately, it’s not all just you.
Even though, this is my final astrology TBR, I may consider continuing this series or maybe I can start a different series? Maybe I can recommend some books series for each sign? A seasonal TBR series? I don’t know! I have a couple of ideas, but not sure which one I should go with. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
About Aries
Aries is the first sign of the astrology wheel. They’re a cardinal fire sign ruled by the planet of Mars. Aries folk are brave, driven, assertive, and independent individuals who are fearless and won’t hesitate to take action, like the ram, which is the Aries symbol. Those ruled by the sign of Aries have a strong sense of masculinity due to their one-track headstrong attitude. Because Aries are associated with the 1st house, the house that rules the self and body. Most Aries people are commonly active, physical, and self-centered by nature. They also enjoy positions of leadership and can be quite competitive. Be cautions though, because of Aries powerful, prone-to-argument fiery energy, you might find yourself on the receiving end of their hot headed temperament if confronted with an unruly Aries. The tarot card that represents Aries is the Emperor card.

The Lamb by Lucy Rose
Margot and Mama have lived by the forest ever since Margot can remember. When Margot is not at school, they spend quiet days together in their cottage, waiting for strangers to knock on their door. Strays, Mama calls them. People who have strayed too far from the road. Mama loves the strays. She feeds them wine, keeps them warm. Then she satisfies her burning appetite by picking apart their bodies.
But Mama’s want is stronger than her hunger sometimes, and when a beautiful, white-toothed stray named Eden turns up in the heart of a snowstorm, Margot must confront the shifting dynamics of her family, untangle her own desires, and make her bid for freedom.
So, I only chose the book, The Lamb, for this specific TBR because of the title. Rams are baby lambs, so I thought this novel would be very fitting to read during Aries season.

We Ride Upon Sticks: A Novel by Quan Barry
The 1989 Danvers Falcons are on an unaccountable winning streak. Quan Barry weaves together the individual and collective journeys of this enchanted team as they storm their way to the state championship. Helmed by good-girl captain Abby Putnam (a descendant of the infamous Salem accuser Ann Putnam) and her co-captain Jen Fiorenza, whose bleached blond “Claw” sees and knows all, the DHS Falcons prove to be as wily and original as their North of Boston ancestors, flaunting society’s stale notions of femininity in order to find their glorious true selves through the crucible of team sport.
Because of their active personality, I associate Aries with sports, especially competitive team sports. This sporty novel about teen girls seeking out witchcraft to keep their winning streak alive seems really intriguing! I’m not someone who enjoys sports, so I’m hoping there isn’t much sports talk involved. Instead, I hope this is more of a coming-of-age teen girl angst novel with witchy vibes.

Chain Gang All Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
Loretta Thurwar and Hamara “Hurricane Staxxx” Stacker are the stars of the Chain-Gang All-Stars, the cornerstone of CAPE, or Criminal Action Penal Entertainment, a highly popular, highly controversial profit-raising program in America’s increasingly dominant private prison industry. It’s the return of the gladiators, and prisoners are competing for the ultimate prize: their freedom.
In CAPE, prisoners travel as Links in Chain-Gangs, competing in death matches before packed arenas with righteous protestors at the gates. Thurwar and Staxxx, both teammates and lovers, are the fan favorites. And if all goes well, Thurwar will be free in just a few matches, a fact she carries as heavily as her lethal hammer. As she prepares to leave her fellow Links, Thurwar considers how she might help preserve their humanity, in defiance of these so-called games. But CAPE’s corporate owners will stop at nothing to protect their status quo, and the obstacles they lay in Thurwar’s path have devastating consequences
I recently read Friday Black by the same author and was intrigued by their concepts, so I’m excited to read this book! Chain Gang All Stars revolves around a game show competition that is contrived of prisoners. It sounds very Hunger Games, meets Survivor. Reality competition series are very Aries!
